FlixTrain
FlixTrain is the low-cost rail brand of the Flix group, launched in Germany in 2018. It now connects more than 70 cities across Germany, Sweden and Austria with tickets from €4.99. FlixTrain is preparing its entry on France-Benelux routes from 2026.
FlixTrain, German low-cost rail
FlixTrain comes from the 2018 acquisition of the German private operator Locomore by the FlixMobility group. Its model: refurbished trainsets (coaches from former operators Bombardier, class 620), 100% digital operation and floor fares from €4.99. In 2022, FlixTrain announced a 70-destination network in Germany with reinforced scheduling on the Munich-Cologne-Hamburg and Hamburg-Berlin-Leipzig axes. The service has since extended into Sweden (Stockholm-Gothenburg-Malmö), Austria and is preparing an arrival in France on the Paris-Brussels corridor by 2026.
Onboard services
FlixTrain trainsets offer air conditioning, toilets, power and USB sockets at every seat, free Wi-Fi (on most trainsets), generous legroom and reclining seats. There is no restaurant car: FlixTrain runs a trolley service for snacks and drinks. Tickets include a reserved seat (compulsory online).
