Gopaxo is a multimodal cheap-ticket comparison engine that aggregates, in a single search, train, bus, carpooling and plane offers. We list more than 800 carriers across 160 countries and display, for each route, the cheapest, fastest or most ecological option. Booking and payment then take place directly on the partner site you choose.

How does Gopaxo work?

You enter your trip (departure city, arrival city, date and passengers). We query in real time the train operators, bus operators, carpooling platforms and airlines, then display every available offer sorted by price, duration or carbon footprint. When you select a ticket, you're redirected to the partner site to securely complete your purchase.

How do I search for a trip?

From the home page, enter your departure city, arrival city, travel date and number of passengers, then click "Compare prices". Results appear in a few seconds, sorted by ascending price by default.

Which carriers are compared on Gopaxo?

Accepted Answer

Gopaxo compares four modes of transport. Train: SNCF (TGV INOUI, OUIGO, Intercités, TER), Eurostar, Trenitalia, Italo, Renfe, Deutsche Bahn, ÖBB, NS International, SNCB and European regional operators. Bus: FlixBus, BlaBlaCar Bus, Alsa, Eurolines. Carpooling: BlaBlaCar, Mobicoop. Plane: Air France, Vueling, Ryanair, easyJet, Transavia, Lufthansa and the main European low-cost carriers.

How do I book a ticket after comparison?

Select the offer of your choice on the results page then click the booking button: you're then redirected to our partner's site, with your route and dates already filled in. You complete the order and pay directly with the partner. As soon as your order is confirmed, the e-ticket is sent to you by e-mail.

Where does the ticket payment happen?

Accepted Answer

Since Gopaxo is a comparison engine, payment always takes place on the partner site you book with. We never collect your banking data.

Question 7

How will I receive my train ticket?

Accepted Answer

Your ticket is sent by the partner who issued it, usually by e-mail immediately after payment, as an e-ticket (PDF) and/or QR code in the partner's app. Remember to check your spam folder if you don't receive it within minutes.

Do I need to print my ticket?

Accepted Answer

Most e-tickets can be presented directly on your phone at the check. Some international companies, however, still require a printed ticket or a readable barcode: check the conditions specified by the partner before leaving.

Can I modify my ticket after purchase?

Accepted Answer

Exchange rules depend on the fare and the company. Some flexible tickets are exchangeable free of charge, others (OUIGO, Prem'S fares, promo tickets) are neither exchangeable nor refundable. Can I cancel my ticket?

Cancellation is possible according to the fare conditions of your ticket. Cancellation is done from your customer area with the partner who issued the ticket. Fees may apply depending on how close the departure is and the type of fare.

Can children travel alone?

Accepted Answer

The minimum age to travel alone varies by company. At SNCF, a child can travel alone from age 4 with the Junior & Cie service (paid and accompanied). In Europe, the age varies between 6 and 14 depending on the operator. Check the partner's conditions before booking.

What is the fare for a child on a train?

Children under 4 travel free on French trains if they don't have an assigned seat. From 4 to 11, a reduced child fare (often 50%) applies. The SNCF Avantage Enfant card offers -60% on TGV INOUI and Intercités. For a child travelling alone, see the dedicated question.

How much luggage can I bring?

On SNCF, you can bring 2 large bags (max 70 × 90 × 50 cm) and 1 hand bag per person free of charge. Rules vary by company: Eurostar limits to 2 large bags + 1 hand bag, OUIGO charges a supplement from the second bag onwards. Check the carrier's policy before departure.

How do I travel with my bike on a train?

Dismantled bikes stored in a cover of max 120 × 90 cm are accepted free of charge as luggage on most trains. For non-dismantled bikes, a dedicated slot must be reserved separately (about €10 on TGV INOUI, free on Intercités and TER subject to availability). Some international lines require prior registration.

What do I do if my train is delayed?

Go to the station at the scheduled times: in case of delay, travellers are usually redirected to the next train. Keep your ticket and a delay receipt (station display, conductor's attestation) for any later compensation request.

Can I get compensation for a delay?

Accepted Answer

Yes, under conditions. In France, the SNCF Punctuality Guarantee compensates from 30 minutes of delay on TGV INOUI and Intercités (25% of the price between 30 min and 2 h, 50% beyond 2 h, 75% from 3 h). European regulation EC 1371/2007 applies on long international trips. The request is made directly with the company, like any refund.
