Travellers and discounted fares

The minimum age to travel alone varies by company. At SNCF, a child can travel alone from age 4 with the Junior & Cie service (paid and accompanied). In Europe, the age varies between 6 and 14 depending on the operator. Check the partner's conditions before booking.

Children under 4 travel free on French trains if they don't have an assigned seat. From 4 to 11, a reduced child fare (often 50%) applies. The SNCF Avantage Enfant card offers -60% on TGV INOUI and Intercités. For a child travelling alone, see the dedicated question.

Yes, the Avantage Jeune (12-27), Avantage Adulte, Avantage Senior (60+), Avantage Enfant and Liberté cards can be applied at booking. You specify your card on the partner site to automatically benefit from the associated discount.

Most stations and trains are equipped to welcome people with reduced mobility. We recommend contacting the Accès Plus service (SNCF) or its equivalent at other companies in advance, ideally 48 h before departure, to arrange station assistance.
