Alsa, a century of long-distance coach expertise

Founded in Cangas de Onís (Asturias) in 1923, Alsa was bought in 2005 by the British National Express Group (now Mobico). The company today operates more than 60,000 routes, carries 300 million passengers a year and runs 3,500 coaches. In Spain, it links virtually every city of more than 50,000 inhabitants and operates most airport shuttles (Madrid Barajas, Barcelona El Prat, Malaga Costa del Sol, Valencia).

An international network with France as a major axis

Alsa serves more than 400 international destinations across 16 countries (Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Andorra, Luxembourg, Poland, Serbia, Morocco, Bosnia, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Slovakia). The major lines from France link Paris to Madrid (16-18 h), Lyon to Barcelona (6-8 h), Bordeaux to San Sebastián, Toulouse to Barcelona, Marseille to Valencia. Alsa also runs combined France-Morocco lines via ferry.

Supra classes and onboard services

Alsa offers three classes on its long-distance lines: Normal, Supra (wider seats, footrests, individual screens) and Supra+ (165° reclining berths, priority welcome, snack). All coaches feature free Wi-Fi, USB sockets, air conditioning and toilets. Long distances include a break every 3-4 hours at partner service areas.

How long does the Paris-Madrid Alsa bus take?

About 16-18 hours direct, overnight. The bus leaves in the evening from Paris Bercy Seine or Paris Gallieni and arrives at Madrid Avenida de América or Estación Sur. Stops are made in Orléans, Bordeaux, San Sebastián or Biarritz depending on the route.

What is Alsa's baggage policy?

Alsa includes 2 bags (one in the hold of 30 kg and one hand bag of 5 kg). A 3rd bag costs €3 to €10 depending on distance. Out-of-size items (skis, dismantled bikes) cost €7-15 and must be declared 48 h in advance.

How do I find a cheap Alsa ticket?

Normal-class promo fares start at €9.99 when sales open, €29-79 on average for a Paris-Madrid. Also compare lines with intermediate stops which can be cheaper.

Does Alsa offer a service for unaccompanied minors?

Yes, on certain international routes, via the Alsabus Kids service (€50 extra), the child is monitored by the driver and met by a designated adult on arrival.

Are pets allowed on Alsa coaches?

Yes — Alsa is one of the few European operators to accept dogs (on a leash and muzzled) and cats in carriers, for a €20 to €40 surcharge. Assistance dogs travel for free.
