Italo
Italo, operated by NTV (Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori), is continental Europe's first private high-speed rail operator. Its Italo AGV and Italo EVO trainsets connect Milan, Turin, Venice, Rome, Naples and Salerno with four service classes and prices from €9.90.
Italo, the private challenger of Italian high speed
Italo was founded in 2006 by Luca di Montezemolo, Diego Della Valle, Gianni Punzo and other Italian entrepreneurs under the NTV name. The first commercial departure took place on 28 April 2012. Italo today operates around thirty Alstom AGV (300 km/h) and Bombardier Italo EVO (250 km/h) trainsets on the main Turin-Milan-Florence-Rome-Naples axis, complemented by Venice and Salerno. Italo carried 22 million passengers in 2023 and holds about 35% of the Italian high-speed market.
