Leo Express, the private Czech operator owned jointly with Spain's Renfe, launched the Frankfurt–Prague–Przemyśl service on 25 June 2026 as a 1,300-kilometre direct train. From day one the seating carriages were operated by Leo Express with RIC coaches (air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, power sockets) — but a so-called economic equilibrium test carried out by the Polish authorities forced the company to cover the Polish section by replacement bus for the first weeks. From 31 July 2026, that test is over and the train runs end-to-end.
The same day brings the headline new product: the Economy Sleeper couchette carriages, attached to the existing RIC set and bookable across the full Frankfurt ⇄ Prague ⇄ Przemyśl corridor. Each sleeper car offers compartments for one to four passengers, with the choice of mixed or women-only configuration, air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, power sockets and a breakfast included in the ticket price. Capacity on the through train rises by 32 sleeper berths per departure.
Prices, classes and what is included
The launch pricing on the Frankfurt ⇄ Prague ⇄ Przemyśl service is split into three tiers:
- Economy Class (seated) — from €9.90.
- Business Class (seated, more legroom and at-seat service) — from €24.90.
- Economy Sleeper (couchette, breakfast included) — from €37.90, or CZK 899 when bought in Czech koruna.
The Economy Sleeper fare compares very favourably with classic European night trains: an ÖBB Nightjet sleeper in a 4-berth compartment on a similar 1,000-plus-kilometre corridor routinely costs €60–€90 per person. The launch timetable runs one through train per day in each direction, with the following representative timings published by the operator:
- Przemyśl 12:04 → Prague 22:32 → Frankfurt 07:22 (next day).
- Frankfurt 15:03 → Prague 01:17 → Przemyśl 11:25 (next day).
In Poland, the train calls at 16 stations including Oświęcim, Kraków, Rzeszów and Przemyśl. In Germany, after a Frankfurt main-station start, the train runs via the German rail network to the Czech border. In the Czech Republic it serves Prague as the main hub, with stops designed to connect to Czech domestic services to Brno and Ostrava.
The Frankfurt–Bohumín (Czech–Polish border) leg is bookable through 12 December 2026; the Polish leg through Przemyśl currently opens through 29 August 2026, with further Polish sales expected in August depending on the new timetable.
